Gander
I remember the day like it was yesterday, it was one of the worst days of my life. It was the day my dog was put to sleep. Her name was Gander she was 12 years old, she was put to sleep in October of 2006. She had a tumor, the tumor started in the middle of her eyes. As time went on the tumor got bigger and bigger. My dad then decided that she was suffering and needed to be put to sleep. It was only the second month of third grade, and my dad had came to my school. He picked me up early, and on our way home he tried to explain that he had put Gander to sleep. Though it was hard for my dad to explain that he had put her down he did it anyways.
Right around the time Gander’s tumor got on the bigger side I started playing travel softball for the Delaware Diamonds. So instead of going to my fathers house three or four days a week I had to go only two days. So everytime Gander saw me she got really excited, and when she got excited she would sneeze a lot. One day I went to my dads she was sneezing and blood was coming out of her nose. This became a regular thing, and blood would go everywhere. This is when my dad told me they were thinking of putting her down. I was so upset, it was like they ripped my heart out.
My dad use to tell me stories about me and her, like how she would walk around the table that had shape edges so that if I was to fall she would be there and I wouldn’t hit my head. He told me that Gander and I were inseparable, he told me that when I was three I would cry every time I left. If me and my dad would leave to go get food, she would have to go. Gander and I would ball fetch with my dad. My dad would throw the ball, then Gander and I would races each other to the ball. Gander was a very big part of my childhood, and i’m very glad she was here for it.
